Microcomputing, which has been providing IT solutions to organizations throughout the North East since 1981, is enjoying its biggest year to date since its management buyout five years ago. The growing company, which counts some impressive clients to its name, including Nike and Northgate PLC, has ambitious plans for the coming years, with anticipated growth of 20% this year and 50% by 2009.
Formerly based at Washington then Sunderland, the local company which provides IT services, application training and business solutions, has made the move to the South Tyneside to pursue business growth and development - moving into brand new state-of-the-art office development - The Bulrushes at Boldon.
Chris Edmondson, Managing Director of Microcomputing, said: "We had resisted moving for many years, but when the time was right, we knew exactly what we were aiming for. South Tyneside was an obvious choice for us - it’s a thriving location with a lot to offer a growing business. Furthermore, we were delighted to discover Whelan’s impressive new office development –The Bulrushes at Boldon Business Park, which met all our search criteria.
The Park is well established and well placed logistically, just off the A19, and with easy access to Newcastle, Sunderland and the Tyne Tunnel. And our new premises are superb - high quality, very modern and with lots of natural light which makes for a comfortable working environment."
Microcomputing has taken up a complete unit at The Bulrushes with over 3335 sq ft to house its growing workforce, which it anticipates to increase steadily over the next two years, creating new jobs for local IT Professionals. The firm has also utilised an entire floor to create a brand new training centre for its clients, extending its capacity for IT application training to meet the growing demand from local businesses.
Colin Wilson, Financial Director at Whelan, said: "We’ve designed The Bulrushes to meet the demands of modern day businesses. Built to a high specification, the offices have everything the start-up or expanding business could want, and we can even assist with telecommunications, office planning and furnishings. We wish Microcomputing good luck in their new premises and we hope this marks the beginning of an exciting new era for the company."
